Boom.
Michael Phelps took to social media on Saturday to announce the birth of his first child with his fiancée, Nicole Johnson.
The 18-time Olympic gold medalist introduced Boomer Robert Phelps to the world on his Facebook page and described the happy moment as the “best feeling I’ve ever felt in my life!”
And that’s saying a lot.
Johnson posted a photo on Instagram recently depicting her happy little bundle.
“Can’t believe I’m#36weeks today! #BabyP will be here in no time!!” the mom-to-be wrote just eight days before giving birth.
Saturday’s news was not the only big announcement Phelps has had recently.
To the distress of competitors world-wide, the most decorated Olympian of all time announced last month that he will try to compete at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Phelps, 30, retired in 2012, but began training again less than two years later and proved last year he is still a force to be reckoned with.
“Serving notice that he still has what it takes, the American legend swam the fastest 200m individual medley, 100m butterfly and 200m butterfly times of the year at the 2015 US National Championships,” Olympic.org reported.
Phelps is coming off a six month suspension by USA Swimming after he was arrested for DUI — the suspension ended on April 6.
