It is common practice for former presidents to endorse their party’s nominee for president.
That’s why it comes as a shock that both former President George H.W. Bush and his son, former President George W. Bush, have said they don’t plan on endorsing presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump as he makes his bid for the White House.
“At age 91, President Bush is retired from politics,” the elder Bush’s spokesman Jim McGrath told The Texas Tribune Wednesday. “He came out of retirement to do a few things for Jeb, but those were the exceptions that proved the rule.”
But Bush 43 is not 91 years old and has no such reason.
Yet, he “does not plan to participate in or comment on the presidential campaign,” his spokesman Freddy Ford told the Tribune.
The former presidents joined other prominent Republicans who have refused to vote for Trump.
Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse, Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker, Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan and Florida Rep. Carlos Curbelo among others.
Although with the ferocity Trump attacked Jeb Bush during the campaign and his insinuation that George W. Bush lied to get the U.S. into a war with Iraq their position is less surprising.
Not surprising neither George HW nor George W Bush will endorse Trump considering how badly he sledgehammered Jeb & the family.

Some think not getting the endorsement of the former presidents is actually a good thing for Trump.

@CNNPolitics Good. His family is why the GOP is so shit. He’d only besmirch the nationalist agenda we so desperately need.
