In the age of social media the wrong tweet, Facebook post, or Instagram video could spell disaster.
That’s what happened to Ole Miss football player Laremy Tunsil. Moments before the NFL draft on Thursday where Tunsil was projected to be one of the first players selected, a video appeared on his Twitter account showing him smoking what appears to be marijuana while wearing a gas mask.

The young man made national news with the tweet, but claimed his account was hacked.
Tunsil was once projected to be the number one pick, but fell to 13 where he was eventually selected by the Miami Dolphins.
According to Market Watch, the tweet and subsequent fall in the draft order, might have cost the NFL rookie around $10 million.
Moments after the unfortunate tweet was deleted another post, this time to his Instagram, purported to show text messages between Tunsil and Ole Miss assistant athletic director for football operations, John Miller. The exchange showed the athlete asking for money to cover family bills.

During a press conference after the draft, Tunsil admitted to taking money from a coach and said it was a “mistake.”

“It is B.S. Somebody hacked into his account,” his agent Jimmy Sexton told ESPN.
The Dolphins said they are “comfortable” with the information they have on Tunsil.
“We’re very comfortable with all the information we have on the situation,” Chris Grier, the team’s general manager, said. “We had heard rumors, and we had done [background] work.
“The video is two years old. So from all the information we have, we are comfortable with it.”
And it ought to serve as a good lesson to his young fans to be careful what you post online because you never know when it might come back to bite you.
