Thursday night on his show, Sean Hannity played Donald Trump an interview Ted Cruz gave on March 23rd after it was evident John Kasich couldn’t win enough delegates to clinch the nomination. In it, Cruz was clear about what Kasich should do.
According to Cruz, “[Kasich] has no path to the nomination. It’s mathematically impossible for John Kasich to become the nominee. He needs more than 100% of remaining delegates …. right now Kasich’s role is really being a spoiler.”
When Hannity asked Trump for his reaction to the Cruz quote, Trump gave Cruz the same advice Cruz had given Kasich, “Well, honestly Sean they should both drop out. I mean Cruz has no path. He’s mathematically eliminated. He’s out. And they should both drop out…”
Senator Cruz, what’s good for the goose…?
Several other aspects of the interview are worth pointing out. When discussing Trump’s new nickname for his likely Democratic opponent, “Crooked Hillary,” Trump didn’t deny her qualifications to be President, but did question her judgement, particularly with the Benghazi incident.
Hannity asked Trump about his earlier statements on the “Today Show” about the North Carolina bathroom law. His response underscores his non-ideological stance on many social issues, yet still should satisfy social conservatives who believe these sorts of issues should be decided by state and local governments.
“Local communities and states should make the decision. The federal government should not be involved,” Trump said.
