Celebrities are among the many Californians who mistakenly registered to vote as members of an anti-abortion conservative party.

Demi Moore was among those who registered as a member of the American Independent Party, a party that calls for a fence to be built on the U.S. border with Mexican and opposes same-sex marriage, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Out of a survey of 500 registered members of the party, 3 out of 4 had no idea what the party stood for and intended to register as an Independent.

A representative for Moore, who donated to President Obama‘s campaigns and is an outspoken supporter of Democrat values, told the Times her registration was a mistake.

“Demi Moore is not, nor has ever been, a member of the American Independent Party,” the representative said.

Patrick Schwarzenegger, son of former Calif. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, is also registered with the party, but a family spokesperson told the Times he plans to change that.

The party was established with Democrat George Wallace’s bid for the presidency in the 1960s. Wallace, a segregationist, ran as a Democrat before entering the race a second time under the newly formed party.

“We’re not segregationist anymore,” Markham Robinson, chairman of the party’s executive committee, told the Times. “What we are now is a conservative, constitutionalist party.”

Californians have until May 23 to change their party affiliation to vote in the state’s primary on June 7.
