Why GOP donors want THIS guy to run as third party option if Trump becomes nominee

The GOP donor class is already plotting their options if GOP front-runner Donald Trump is the republican nominee.

As a third-party option, if Trump does make it to the GOP nomination, republican donors are looking strongly to Retired Marine Corps General James Mattis to take on the New York businessman in a general election, according to a report by the Daily Caller.

Mattis has apparently been floated around republican donors for months now, but the seriousness of his potential third-party run has only recently gotten traction, the report says.

GOP donors Rick Wilson and John Noonan are just a few who are courting Mattis for the job, apparently sending him an email obtained by the Daily Beast that says if he runs against Trump, his “fake-macho act falls apart.”

Wilson and Noonan along with a group of other republican donors are working with a team of consultants led by Joel Searby to try to get Mattis to run. The team has already drafted six memos where they outline how Mattis could win in a general election against Trump and the Democrat nominee.

Mattis is known by his nicknames “Mad Dog” and “Warrior monk.” Most notably, his outspokenness made him a prominent figure during the peak of the Iraq war, where he once told Iraqi military leaders ““I come in peace. I didn’t bring artillery. But I’m pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you f*ck with me, I’ll kill you all.”
