Reince Priebus just laid down the law on who he thinks is in charge.
The Republican National Committee Chairman sat down with Charlie Sykes on 620AM in Wisconsin and dismissed the possibility of Donald Trump running as a third-party candidate.
But he also scolded Trump supporters who aren’t happy with how delegates are selected and how the nominee is ultimately chosen.
“By the way, this is a nomination for the Republican Party,” Priebus told Sykes. “If you don’t like the party, then sit down. The party is choosing a nominee.”
He made it clear that all of the primary voting the people do is basically for show unless a candidate reaches the magic number of 1,237 delegates.
“[S]omewhere along the line, the people decided wouldn’t it be a good idea if we expanded the interest here and had statewide primaries and caucuses and then we would tie the hands of the delegates for just one — just one — vote. And then after that vote, they could go back to the old way,” he said. “That’s what’s going on here.”
