Despite continued terrorist attacks like the ones in Paris and Brussels, many in the West still believe that the way to stop the threat of radical Islam is by appeasement.

Last week, Air France decided it wanted its stewardesses to wear Muslim headscarves on flights to Iran, and now a region in Switzerland is exempting Muslim students from shaking hands with women.

Officials in the Swiss municipality of Therwil decided to exempt students from shaking hands with female teachers after two male students complained that doing so goes against their religious beliefs as a Muslim, the GlobalPost reported.

The decision sparked anger across the neutral nation.

Felix Mueri, who heads the parliamentary commission on science, education and culture, said shaking hands with the teacher is part of Swiss culture and ought to be respected.

“This is a gesture of respect and good manners,” he said, according to the GlobalPost.

Apparently, he is unfamiliar with the West’s trend to sacrifice its customs to acquiesce to those of Muslims.

“We cannot tolerate that women in the public service are treated differently from men,” Christoph Eymann, who is the head of the Swiss Conference of Cantonal Ministers of Education, told Swiss television, according to the Post.

“It is difficult when someone refuses to adopt our way of life,” Christine Akeret, who runs the Therwil school system, said to reporters.

Evidently, the idea of telling students to get with the program or get out hasn’t occurred to them.
