Wasserman Schultz says ‘no shred of evidence’ that she favors Hillary

Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz says she’s not picking favorites in the Democratic presidential primary.

Schultz said in an interview with Fox Business Network that “There is no just no shred of evidence to suggest that I’m favoring Hillary Clinton.”

“I’m not doing a very good job wrapping up the nomination for her if I were favoring Hillary Clinton,” Schultz said. “If I wanted to support a candidate, I would do exactly that – leave the DNC chair and go support a candidate.”

Schultz’s claim comes as Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, quit the DNC in order to support Sen. Bernie Sanders for president because she felt as though the DNC was favoring Clinton in the race, according to a report by Real Clear Politics.

Clinton has long been the favorite of the DNC, with her campaign offices being set up inside local DNC offices, as documented by Vice News.

Just last year, the DNC’s director of finances was caught fundraising for Clinton and was never reprimanded by Schultz for the impartiality.

Schultz served as Clinton’s co-chair during her 2008 run for the Democratic nomination which was ultimately lost to President Obama.

In December of 2015, Schultz publicly confirmed her support for Clinton, saying, “I guess that the Sanders campaign unfortunately doesn’t have anything other than bluster at the moment that they can put out there,” during an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer
