How many Trumps are there? Carson takes MAJOR heat for confusing endorsement

Anti-Trump advocates on social media opened a can of vitriol on Dr. Ben Carson for putting his support behind Donald Trump’s campaign.

The world famous neurosurgeon and former GOP presidential candidate officially announced his support for Trump on Twitter and at a press conference Thursday at the Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida.

“He’s actually a very intelligent man who cares deeply about America,” Carson said at the press conference. “There’s two different Donald Trumps. There’s the one you see on stage and the one that’s very cerebral, sits there and considers things very carefully.”

That quote, and his Twitter posts, created plenty of fodder for Trump bashers to go to town.

At first, Trump agreed that there were two versions of himself.

“I think there are two Donald Trumps. There’s the public version and people see that, and I don’t know what they see exactly but it seems to have worked over my lifetime,” he told a reporter. “It’s probably different I think then the personal Donald Trump, I think Ben would say that. Ben said it very well today.”

Shortly thereafter, Trump tried to clarify for reporters that there is indeed only one Trump.

“I don’t think there are two Donald Trumps, I think there’s one Donald Trump,” the candidate told another reporter.

That didn’t stop those out for a piece of Carson’s hide from lacing into him.

There were still plenty who welcomed the endorsement.
