Loretta Lynch becomes 5th SCOTUS nominee to say NO to Obama

President Obama‘s game of hot potato with the Supreme Court nomination lost another player.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch became the fifth person who has bowed out of the pool of potential candidates.

The Justice Department said Tuesday that Lynch “asked not to be considered” for the vacancy left by the passing of conservative stalwart Justice Antonin Scalia in February.

Lynch joined other fellow Democrats — N.J. Sen. Corey Booker, Minn. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Calif. Attorney General Kamala Harris — and the Republican governor of Nevada Brian Sandoval as people not willing to be, what the Washington Post has called, Obama’s kamikaze pilot.

Republicans in the Senate have vowed not to consider any of Obama’s nominations, opting instead to wait for a new president to make the nomination in 2017.

Take a look at a compilation of the candidates who declined to be considered below.

UPDATE: “CNN reports Wednesday that 11th Circuit Judge Adalberto Jordan has withdrawn his name from SCOTUS consideration, making him now the SIXTH potential nominee to do so,” Brian Rogers reported.
