“Iron Mike” Ditka, who is no fan of President Barack Obama, believes America needs “somebody like Ronald Reagan,” and says Donald Trump is the best choice to fill that bill.
“Obama is the worst president we’ve ever had,” the legendary former coach of the NFL’s Chicago Bears said Thursday during an appearance on the Bernie and Sid morning radio show on WABC-AM, adding that the president’s lack of leadership is “very disgusting.”
“Barack Obama’s a fine man. I mean, he’s pleasant,” Ditka said. “He would be great to play golf with. He’s not a leader.”
The ESPN “Sunday NFL Countdown” analyst offered his take on what the country needs.
“This country needs leadership. It needs direction. It needs somebody that steps up front,” he said. “We need somebody like Ronald Reagan.”
The Super Bowl-winning coach said America is “devoid of leadership right now,” and while he came up short of an outright endorsement, Ditka said love him or hate him, Trump’s a better option than Hillary Clinton or the remaining Republican contenders.
“If I were to vote tomorrow, I’d probably vote for Trump,” he said.
ESPN is already dealing with a comment made by former MLB pitcher and current ESPN baseball color analyst Curt Schilling, who said on Tuesday that Clinton “should be buried under a jail somewhere,” and Ditka may have added to the network’s woes.
Pointing to a comment from Clinton that Republicans want to take America back to the “Jim Crow past,” Ditka said it was a “filthy statement” that could make a person want to “throw up.”
