Supporters of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders are calling for the arrest of former President Bill Clinton.
More than 100,000 people have signed the petition on Change.org calling for the arrest of Clinton following what they claim was a violation of Massachusetts voting laws for Clinton appearing at as many as four polling places on Super Tuesday.
“This is a call for the immediate arrest of President Bill Clinton for clear, knowing and egregious violation of the campaign laws to swing an election in a significant way. It could not be any clearer in the Massachusetts General Laws. ‘Campaigning within 150 feet of a polling station, or in any way interfering with the right to vote.’ Choosing the critical battleground state of Massachusetts, Bill Clinton should immediately be subject to arrest and prosecution,” the petition read.
Massachusetts Secretary of State William Galvin, a Democrat, told the Boston Globe no violations were committed.
“He had the right to go into the polling locations and say ‘Hello’ to workers who were there. The issue is you can’t go inside and say, ‘Vote for my wife’ or ‘Vote for Hillary,’” he said.
But he did exactly that according to the Globe.
“Pull the lever for Hillary,” he said to a voter, the Globe reported.
And at the New Bedford polling station, he shouted, “Thank you all for participating. I especially thank those of you who are supporting Hillary,” according to the Globe.
“Bill Clinton does not vote in Massachusetts, and would have no other business in a polling station on election day besides campaigning for his wife,” the petition calling for Clinton’s arrest read.
But since when do laws apply to the Clintons?
