Scarborough declares Trump’s ‘breathtaking’ KKK comments to be ‘disqualifying’

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough has finally broken with the Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump.

Pointing to a CNN interview on Sunday when Trump said it would be “unfair” to judge the KKK without doing more “research” on the group — the candidate later said a “lousy earpiece” prevented him from hearing the question properly — the “Morning Joe” co-host said that was a “disqualifying” moment.

“That’s disqualifying right there,” Scarborough said. “It’s breathtaking. That is disqualifying right there. To say you don’t know about the Ku Klux Klan? You don’t know about David Duke?”

He then questioned Trump’s intelligence.

“And the most stunning thing is … this isn’t buying him a single vote,” Scarborough added. “Is he really so stupid that he thinks southerners aren’t offended by the Ku Klux Klan and David Duke?”

The “Morning Joe” crew has been under scrutiny for a while for their friendly relationship with the real estate tycoon, with Scarborough and co-host Mika Brzezinski sent scrambling to distance themselves a couple of weeks ago after the candidate — a frequent guest — referred to them as “supporters.”

The charge took on added weight during an MSNBC town hall last week, when an open mic picked up Trump telling the two off-screen not to ask him anything “too hard,” and talking about making “us all look good.”

Perhaps the heat was too much and the MSNBC co-hosts were looking for an opportunity to save face with their liberal friends, and the KKK incident fell right into their laps.
