Fox News star Megyn Kelly joined Steven Colbert on his live post-Super Bowl broadcast of “Late Show,” and it didn’t take long before Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump’s name came up.
In fact, Colbert jokingly referred to Kelly as Trump’s “kryptonite” in his opening monologue.
“Why is Fox News feuding with Donald Trump,” he asked Kelly. “What do you have against that good man. He’s just a billionaire who also wants to have the nuclear launch codes.”
Ever the diplomat, Kelly responded by noting that Trump has been on the network 140 times and said Fox News is not feuding with him, before acknowledging that “he does have a beef with me.”
Colbert pointed to a recent tweet where Trump “refused” to call Kelly a “bimbo,” and asked his guest if there are any names she’d like to refuse to call the real estate tycoon.
“Second-place loser? Anything?” he suggested.
“The only thing I really wanted to ask him was, he recently said his supporters are so devoted to him he could go in the middle of Fifth Ave. and shoot someone and he wouldn’t lose a single voter. In response to which I want to ask him, ‘Were you talking about me?’ Kelly replied with a laugh, not taking the bait.
Kelly did talk about how she will start the next Fox News debate on March 3 — she’ll again be one of the moderators.
“I’m going to start with, ‘Apology accepted,'” she joked.
“I’m looking forward to him coming,” she added. “All the questions I had for him the last go-round, I’m just gonna move over to the March 3 debate rundown. We’re gonna have at it, just like I’ve had at it with all the other guys — and Carly — who’ve been up there.”
We can hardly wait!
