In today’s racially divisive times, perpetually offended liberals are quick to take offense to the slightest provocations.
Such as a Super Bowl ad starring George Washington … and Lil Wayne — not that the hip hop artist, who also goes by Weezy, is buying into the hysteria that the ad is racist.
Lil Wayne is featured in an ad for Apartments.com that begins with actor Jeff Goldblum being lifted up “to a deluxe apartment in the sky” while playing the theme song “Movin’ on Up” from the 1970s sitcom “The Jeffersons.”
Goldblum is accompanied by a gospel choir and as they near the top, instead of finding George Jefferson and his wife, “Weezy,” they see George Washington and Weezy — aka Lil Wayne — who’s cooking burgers and beans on a rooftop grill.
All of which is enough for some to say the ad is “low-key racist,” according to TMZ.
The complaint being that Weezy appears to be cooking for Washington, who “famously owned slaves.”
A source close to Lil Wayne told TMZ the commercial is “meant to be funny and silly and not the least bit offensive,” adding that “people need to calm down.”
Take a look here to see what all the hoopla’s about and if you agree. Either way, it seems Apartments.com has already won with all the added attention:
