Popular Canadian rapper Drake took a pointed shot at President Obama in the first single released Saturday from his new album “Views From The 6.”
In the opening lyrics of the song “Summer Sixteen,” Drake, real name Aubrey Drake Graham, says he is looking for “revenge” and mentions President Obama.
He could be referring to a YouTube interview from January 15 when the president declared that rapper Kendrick Lamar would defeat Drake in a rap battle.
“I think Drake is an outstanding entertainer. But Kendrick, his lyrics — his last album was outstanding. Best album, I think, last year,” he said.
That did not sit well with the rap superstar who shot back at the president in his latest release in which he references Obama’s choice.
“Tell Obama that my verses are just like the whips that he in. They bulletproof,” he rapped.
As for the rest of the lyrics, if you’re not into rap, they’re hard to figure out. Can anyone translate?
Looking for revenge
To do what you couldn’t do
Tell Obama that my verses are just like the whips that he in
They bulletproof
