Brown, Goldman families at odds with ‘The People v. O.J.’ series

The infamous 1995 murder trial of former NFL big shot O.J. Simpson is being reborn in an upcoming TV drama series on FX, yet relatives of the victims fear the remake will be just another injustice to the truth.

Tanya Brown, sister of the slain Nicole Brown Simpson, argued that the new series “The People v O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” will most likely fail to accurately portray the unforgettable story of the trial that consumed a nation nearly two decades ago because the producers didn’t consult the family for input.

“They didn’t take the families into consideration. Who is defending my sister?” she told People Magazine.

But, not speaking with the families was an intentional decision, according to executive producer of the series, Brad Simpson.

Simpson said that they used outside sources to protect the families from having to relive a terrible memory. He told to People that there are some “wounds that will never heal.”

Father of Ron Goldman, Fred Goldman, raised the concern that a whole new generation of viewers will get an inaccurate depiction of the shocking story surrounding his son’s murder.

“You are going to have people basing their beliefs on a movie,” he warned. “Last time I checked, we don’t rely on movies for facts.”

Maybe we will never ‘really’ know the truth.

The 10-part series will be launched Tuesday on FX.
