Donald Trump was just endorsed by who? Left-wing news magazine gets it tragically wrong

One of America’s oldest left-leaning news sources made an embarrassing error on Donald Trump‘s big announcement.

On Tuesday, the Republican presidential front-runner told the hosts of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that he had a “powerful endorsement” coming later in the day. And he didn’t disappoint when Rev. Jerry Falwell Jr. declared his support for Trump.

In its haste to report the announcement, the New Republic tweeted the news with a picture of Jerry Falwell Senior.

A man who has been dead since 2007.

Social media users were quick to pick up on the err, and proceeded to mock the paper:
