Among the few things that can be counted on from the radical left — aside from their rank hypocrisy – is that they’ll eventually turn on themselves.
It’s rare to see these two components come together though, but that’s just what happened in response to calls to boycott the Academy Awards this year because no black actors were nominated.
An effort that took on the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite.
Journalist Jose Antonio Vargas, an illegal immigrant, seized on the opportunity Friday to draw attention to the lack of diversity in the liberal media with his own hashtag:Â #JournalismSoWhite.
Vargas went on a long Twitter rant, not only highlighting how “white” journalism is, but Congress as well.
Since we're discussing #OscarsSoWhite, can we add #JournalismSoWhite and #CongressSoWhite? @emergingUS

American newsrooms are less diverse now than when I started in journalism in 1999. A disgrace. And irresponsible. #JournalismSoWhite

how many political reporters of color are covering 2016 presidential campaign? #journalismsowhite @emergingUS

when White journalists report on race, it’s “reporting”; when journalists of color do it, it’s “having an agenda” #journalismsowhite

To insure he was getting attention, Vargas began tagging people such as CNN’s Brian Seltzer and NBC’s Chuck Todd among others. He also called out liberal media outlets like the New York Times, Gawker and Vox.
And just so his followers didn’t lose sight that it’s really all about him, Vargas shared his own diversity: “I’m gay, undocumented, look Asian, Latino name.”
.@brianstelter, I hope you analyze #journalismsowhite. Begin with your newsroom, @cnn. cc @DylanByers

#JournalismSoWhite = Sunday morning talk shows. Why does @donnabrazile have to be the only Black person?

Dear @chucktodd: Have u ever thought about having a @meetthepress show w/ all people of color journalists? #JournalismSoWhite @emergingUS

And when journalists of color DO WORK in newsrooms, how often are they told to “stay objective,” “be neutral”? #JournalismSoWhite
— Jose Antonio Vargas (@joseiswriting) January 22, 2016
We need more White journalists to look around THEIR OWN NEWSROOMS and say that #JournalismSoWhite is unacceptable.
— Jose Antonio Vargas (@joseiswriting) January 22, 2016
I’m gay, undocumented, look Asian, Latino name. I can’t afford to be objective. #JournalismSoWhite
— Jose Antonio Vargas (@joseiswriting) January 22, 2016
How many non-White editors commission and edit op-eds at @nytopinion @nytimes @sulliview #JournalismSoWhite
— Jose Antonio Vargas (@joseiswriting) January 22, 2016
If news media is examining diversity of Hollywood, Silicon Valley, etc, then we must also examine our own industry. #JournalismSoWhite
