Talk about adding insult to injury, Iran continues to taunt a weak-kneed Obama administration.
It’s bad enough that Iran released a video showing 10 U.S. sailors on their knees with their hands behind their heads, now a senior Iranian military official claims the captured sailors “started crying after [their] arrest,” according to the Washington Free Beacon.
Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps deputy commander Hossein Salami said on Friday during a martyrs’ commemoration ceremony that the “American sailors started crying after arrest, but the kindness of our Guard made them feel calm.”
Salami is responsible for the unit that boarded the U.S. ships and arrested the sailors.
Feeling emboldened by their success in humiliating America, Salami also boasted about his country’s military prowess.
“Since the end of the Second World War, no country has been able to arrest American military personnel,” he said, according to an independent translation of his remarks.
A second Iranian military leader said during Friday prayers that the sailors cowered when confronted by Iranian troops, the Free Beacon reported.
“I saw the weakness, cowardice, and fear of American soldiers myself,” said IRGC commander Ahmad Dolabi, according to a translation. “Despite having all of the weapons and equipment, they surrendered themselves with the first action of the guardians of Islam.”
“American forces receive the best training and have the most advanced weapons in the world,” he said. “But they did not have the power to confront the Guard due to weakness of faith and belief.”
Fortunately for Dolabi, U.S. military personnel aren’t likely to get the opportunity for a “do-over.”
