Iran releases video of US sailor apologizing: ‘It was a mistake, it was our fault’

Throughout the day Wednesday, videos and pictures have trickled out of Iranian state television of the 10 U.S. sailors that were held after sailing into Iran’s waters.

In the latest video a U.S. sailor is seen apologizing for a”mistake,” taking full responsibility, presumably for the incident.

“It was a mistake, it was our fault, and we apologize for our mistake,” the sailor said.

The apology came after Vice President Joe Biden told CBS News that there would be no apology and that Iran didn’t want one.

“When you have a problem with the boat, (do) you apologize the boat had a problem? No,” he told “CBS This Morning” Wednesday. “And there was no looking for any apology. This was just standard nautical practice.”

A video released earlier in the day showed the capture of the U.S. sailors after their two ships breached Iranian space Tuesday.
