Furious Tantaros tries to pull Geraldo’s head out of sand on refugee crisis; ‘You need to wake up!’

Geraldo Rivera Andrea TantarosThe panel of Fox News’ “Outnumbered” got heated Tuesday over the rash of assaults committed by Middle Eastern refugees in Europe and the potential for them to spread to America.

Geraldo Rivera insisted that what is happening in Germany, particularly the string of sexual assaults on New Year’s Eve, could not happen in the U.S. because the number of refugees accepted here is far less than Germany in relation to each nation’s population.

“Germany is a nation of 60 million. They let in a million people. We’re a nation of 330 million (and) the president proposes to let in 65,000. Let’s not exaggerate or make hysterical the possibility of this happening in the United States,” he said. “Germany has altered the demographic face of the republic of Germany.”

“Two Somali refugees murdered people up in Maine in August. That story didn’t get a lot of play. It’s already happening here. You need to wake up!” Andrea Tantaros shot back.

“Honestly, Geraldo, it’s attitudes like yours saying it will never happen here,” she continued. “They said the same thing in Germany, they said the same thing in England and women’s safety is in jeopardy. It’s ignorant to say anything otherwise!”

Geraldo argued that the U.S. would properly vet the refugees and the “German experience” with the refugees was due to its government’s “incompetence.”

“We’re just as incompetent. Look at our government. Just as incompetent,” Tantaros fired back.

Tantaros’ concerns are being backed up by a report Tuesday in the Daily Mail that said authorities fear the attacks, which are a common Arab practice according to the Mail, are spreading throughout Europe.

Police fear a gang-rape phenomenon known as ‘taharrush gamea’ in the Arab world and seen in attacks on women across German cities at the New Year has now spread to Europe.

The name of the practice translates to ‘collective harassment’ and is carried out by large groups of men who sexually assault lone women, either by groping, or in some instances, raping them.

The men first surround their victim in circles. Some then sexually assault her, while others not directly involved watch or divert outsiders’ attention to what is occurring.

Sometimes the terrified victim – in a state of shock and unable to respond – is also robbed during the ordeal.

And the attack usually goes unpunished because the large number of perpetrators and chaos of the attack means authorities are unable to identify those involved.
