Intense footage of the raid that captured Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman was released by Mexican authorities and obtained by CNN Monday.
The heart pounding video shows Guzman’s compound coming under siege from Mexican soldiers who used heavy artillery and grenades to bring down the drug lord.
While the soldiers faced fierce backlash from Guzman’s hit men they eventually seized control of the scene and killed or arrested all in the house, but Guzman had temporarily escaped through a manhole.
Guzman was captured a short time later after he stole a car.
