Elections agency won’t weigh in on Senate redistricting spat – The future is too heavy for the Florida Department of State. The agency, which houses the Florida Division of Elections, won’t say how they interpret the state’s election law amid a contentious fight over redrawing 40 state Senate districts. The dispute centers on whether or not some senators will have to run for reelection in 2016. Read more
Webster: I’m still running for speaker, Ryan’s plan doesn’t change the process – Rep. Daniel Webster (R-FL) stated that he’s staying in the race for speaker and that he doesn’t see anything in Rep. Fla. legislators targeting daily fantasy sports – Florida Senate President Andy Gardiner is exploring what the state can do to shut down daily fantasy sports, even as federal prosecutors are probing the online industry that has taken the nation by storm and drawn accusations of illegal gambling. Gardiner has asked his lawyers to look into fantasy sports, in which players pay entry fees to draft teams that compete for cash prizes based on the real-life performance of players. Read more
