Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump turned up the heat Wednesday in his feud with fellow GOP contender Jeb Bush, saying Bush keeps attacking him because he’s “embarrassed” by the mediocre results of his campaign.
Trump called in to ABC’s “Good Morning America,” and, true to form, pulled no punches.
“Well, look, Jeb has had a very hard time,” he said. “He’s way down in the polls. He’s doing very poorly. He’s embarrassed by what’s happening. So he has to attack me to try to get his numbers up.”
After saying America doesn’t want another Bush in the White House, Trump spoke of his rival’s desperation.
“The last thing we need is another Bush and he understands that and the voters understand that,” Trump said. “You know, to compare me to Michael Moore; that’s a first, that one hasn’t happened before.”
The reference to Moore stems from the back-and-forth between the two candidates following Trump’s remark that 9/11 occurred under President George W. Bush’s watch. Intentional or not, the younger Bush was drawn into the pitfall of defending his older brother.

“That Trump echoes the attacks of Michael Moore and the fringe left against my brother is yet another example of his dangerous views on national-security issues,” Bush wrote in an op-ed, published Tuesday by the National Review. “This is a man who has previously stated he would prefer Hillary Clinton had led negotiations on the nuclear agreement with Iran.”
Trump offered his take on Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., making a conditional announcement that he will run for Speaker of the House, saying he likes the lawmaker but is concerned about his immigration stance.
“I feel very very strongly about immigration and we have to be strong on illegal immigration,” Trump said. “He is not there.”
