‘I got your *6’: Sheriff deeply touched by huge surprise from strangers in local diner

receiptLet’s hope this is a trend that catches on like wildfire.

A heart-warming act of kindness from a family dining at an Elizabeth, Colorado, restaurant made a sheriff’s day — and then some.

One of the owners of Catalina’s Diner, Javier Larios, told KDVR Fox 31 that Elbert County Sheriff Shayne Heap is a regular.

“He always orders his Blue Cheese Bacon Burger, I guess blue means a lot to him, too,” Larios joked.

The owner said the family saw the sheriff when they walked in and said they wanted to take care of his tab.

When it came time to pay his bill, Heap was instead handed a receipt.

“I just said somebody already paid for your tab,” Larios said.

The receipt said, “I got your #6.  #Blue Lives Matter.” — “I got your #6” is military jargon that means “I’ve got your back.”

In light of the violence directed at law enforcement recently and the anti-police rhetoric stirred up by the Black Lives Matter hate group, the gesture really hit home with Heap as he later posted a message on the Elbert County Sheriff’s official Facebook page.

“Someone picked up my lunch and left a note — this person has no idea how much this means to me,” the sheriff wrote. “Made my day, made my week, made my month. Thank you!! So very proud to serve.”

He too included the hashtag: #bluelivesmatter.

The sheriff expanded on what the act of kindness meant to him and other law enforcement officers in response to a Facebook inquiry from KDVR Fox 31.

“It was a nationwide message to sheepdogs that stand in the thin blue line because they care so deeply about their fellow Americans,” he wrote.

Heap acknowledged that “those of us that wear the uniform are also on edge because of the attacks we have experienced.”

“But we don’t see it as white or black or brown; because we all bleed blue,” he added. “And for those that would ridicule and scorn, know that this one act overpowers thousands of your negative acts. We are the sheepdogs and we won’t, under any circumstances or any opposition stop serving and protecting.”
