Surging Republican presidential contender Marco Rubio set his sights on Hillary Clinton Sunday, saying the likely Democratic nominee represents the “status quo” — as in President Obama’s failed liberal policies.
“This is not a time for the status quo,” Rubio said in an exclusive, wide-ranging interview on “Fox News Sunday,” explaining why he refers to Clinton as “a candidate from yesterday.”

“She’s a defender of the status quo in a time when we need transformation in our policies,” he added.
“I mean, at the end of the day, what she’s promising to do, to the extent we know, because she hasn’t been talking to the media, is to continue much of the president’s policies,” Rubio said, getting in a veiled shot at Clinton for continuing to dodge the media.
Host Chris Wallace asked the Florida senator to explain a comment he made last week about a potential Clinton presidency, when Rubio said the country can’t afford “another eight years of a soap opera.”
“Well, again, unfortunately, both under her husband’s presidency, her time in the Department of State, her campaign for president the last time and even now, there seems to be this cloud of constant scandal and things that distract us from the core issues at the moment,” Rubio said.

“And I just think at this hinge moment in our history, where we are asked to make a transition from the past into a new future, with all the challenges and the opportunities of our time … the American people are not at a point now where I think they’re going to be supportive of more drama surrounding the political process,” he added.
Rubio talked at length about foreign policy, saying the “nation is at a hinge moment in its history.”
“We have to recognize the balance of power in the world has shifted,” he said.
He also expressed growing dissatisfaction with President Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran.
“We now know what the outlines of the deal are and they’re much worse than anybody anticipated,” Rubio told Wallace. “And, in fact, every time there’s a new revelation about the deal, it gets worse and worse and worse.”
