New Orleans Saints tight end Benjamin Watson is at it again, speaking his mind and capturing the attention of the nation.
On Saturday, Watson took to Facebook to comment on the persecution of Christians across the globe, saying “we must wake from our slumber.”
And his remark have garnered plenty of attention.
The NFL player first became a household name in November when he poured his heart and soul into a Facebook post commenting on a grand jury’s decision not to indict Ferguson, Mo., police Officer Darren Wilson in the death of 18-year-old Michael Brown.
Watson appeared Tuesday on Fox News’ “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren,” and said it’s not just about Islamic State militants, who are brutally killing Christians in the Middle East.
He told Van Susteren it was also about how he feels as a Christian when he sees images of fellow Christians being slaughtered “merely because they believe in Jesus Christ.” He said Americans are not as removed from the persecution as some may think.
“It won’t be long, I believe, until we may be facing some of the same things here,” Watson said.
“We have to […] as Christians kind of circle the wagons and really wake up from our slumber and realize that everybody’s not for us,” he added.
