Supporters reacted with outrage to reports that anti-police protesters denouncing the Denver Police Department on Saturday defaced a memorial for fallen officers by pouring red paint over it.
Stickers with a threatening message were also attached to the memorial — the stickers name an officer involved in several local shootings and read: “What goes around comes around.”
KUSA-TV reported up to 100 protesters marched to police headquarters in the wake of an incident last month where a 17-year-old girl was shot and killed by Denver police while driving a stolen car that struck an officer. The memorial is located outside the building.
Two protesters were arrested and face criminal mischief charges, according to police.
The Denver Police Department posted an image of the vandalized memorial on social media, along with a follow-up message. The tweets, as seen on Twitter:

But outrage over the defaced memorial dominated Twitter, proving once again the protesters hurt their own cause with their extreme behavior. Here is a sampling of reactions:

@DenverPolice An unforgivable gesture of ignorance and misguided hatred that shows the futility of trying to reason with unreasonable men.

@DenverPolice What’s wrong with people? Activists lose their credibility when property destruction becomes their primary goal. No respect!!
