Actor Gary Sinise has a long, rich history of beingĀ an advocate for America’s servicemen and women, especially those who’ve been wounded in action.
The man best known for playing Lt. Dan in āForrest Gumpā joined Fox News host Greta Van Susteren in the studio Wednesday to discuss his latest project — building smart homes for wounded veterans to help rebuild their lives.
The Gary Sinise Foundation, in partnership withĀ Building for Americaās Bravest, turned over the keys to a home Wednesday to Staff Sgt. Travis Mills, one of the five surviving quadruple amputee service members injured inĀ the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to Fox News.

But to his surprise, Van Susteren arranged to have Mills call in while Sinise was on the air.
āI can’t thank you enough, I get to take my daughter home today, sir,ā Mills told Sinise before being overcome by emotion.
A powerful moment as Sinise also foughtĀ back tears.
āWelcome home, buddy,ā he eventually told the wounded veteran.
