HLN’s Nancy Grace was interviewing the father of a missing 12-year-old boy Wednesday when reports came in to her ear that the child was found in the man’s own basement.
The Detroit minor was missing for 11 days and several searches had already been done on the home. His behavior on the live broadcast led some to suspect the father was not being completely honest. In later interviews, the man broke down in tears and said it was absurd for anyone to think he had anything to do with his own son’s disappearance.
The police chief was asked during an impromptu news conference Wednesday whether an adult was responsible for hiding the boy in the basement.
“We’re not ruling that out,” he said. “It would be hard for me to sit here and tell you that someone didn’t know Charlie was there, but I can’t say definitively.”
