While many in the media continue to push the narrative that the GOP is responsible for the bitter partisanship that grips America, a Democratic lawmaker in Colorado begs to differ.
A former aide to Democratic state Senator Irene Aguilar said he was fired on the spot last week because he allegedly visited the office of a fellow college aide who works for a Republican.
In an interview with Campus Reform, openly gay 21-year-old Tyler Drum said that Aquilar, assistant majority leader in the Colorado Senate, did not explain why he had been fired.
“She just said leadership was uncomfortable with me befriending Republicans,” Drum said.

According to Colorado Peak Politics, Drum “visited a buddy on the Republican side, hoping to check out the Republican aide’s new office space.”
A registered Democrat, Drum told Campus Reform that “partisanship runs much deeper than I thought,” saying “there is no real interest in compromise.”
As for the Democratic Party, his experienced has been an eye-opener.
“This was my first job after graduating, [the Democrats] don’t care about my situation, they don’t care to know who I am,” Drum said. “I thought this would happen on the Republican side, now I’m a disenchanted Democrat.”
Aguilar did not respond to requests for comment from Campus Reform.
