Just as America learned that the “Duck Dynasty” controversy was over, another drama involving ducks has found its way into the news.
Police were called last Monday when a New Hampshire state representative plowed into a number of ducks outside the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Nashua, reportedly killing one or more of the birds, the Nashua Telegraph reported.
Democratic state Rep. David Campbell hit the ducks as hotel quests were feeding them, exiting the scene before police arrived, according to the report.

James Murphy, a retired U.S. Marine officer, ran after the vehicle and snapped a photograph of its House-issued license plate, The Telegraph reported.
The driver got out of the car and said words to the effect of, “The ducks should have moved,” according to Murphy, who said he called police because he was struck by the driver’s indifference.
“That was just a blatant disregard for just everyone involved,” Murphy said.
Campbell acknowledged that he was driving the vehicle that hit the ducks, saying he feels “terrible” about it.
“I hit some ducks,” Campbell said in an interview with The Telegraph. “Some people were feeding ducks on the driveway in front of the Crowne Plaza at 10 o’clock at night … and they didn’t move, and I hit some ducks.”
He declined to comment further until a police investigation is concluded, saying Sunday that he’d “like to wait and see what they come out with.”
But Campbell would issue a statement anyway.
As the New Hampshire Union Leader reported on Monday, Campbell said in an email, “Even though the police have yet to complete their investigation, I feel it is necessary to issue a statement:
“I am deeply sorry that I accidentally ran over several wild ducks near the Crowne Plaza last Monday night. This occurred while some people were feeding the ducks in the roadway nearby. I know it greatly upset them, as it did me. In spite of the accusations to the contrary, this was accidental, unintentional and deeply affected me then and now.
“I immediately got out of my car and apologized. However, one individual – who I later learned was Mr. James Murphy – was highly agitated and confrontational. He cursed, continuously yelled, and approached me in a threatening manner. After I parked my car, his aggressive behavior and threats continued. To diffuse a situation that was becoming increasingly hostile, I walked across the parking lot to my office building.
“I have fully cooperated with the police. I reported the accident to the N.H. Fish & Game Department, and also spoke with the management of the Crowne Plaza.
“Once again, I extend my deepest apology to everyone involved, including the public.”
Nashua police are reportedly continuing to investigate the duck incident, but refused to comment Sunday night, the Union Leader said.
