In a wide ranging interview to be aired Sunday on CNN’s “Fareed Zakaria GPS,” former President Bill Clinton suggested the Republican Party has an edge over Democrats in the form of a “more reliable media base.”
When asked about the Democratic Party, “Bubba” leaves viewers wondering if he has been spending time in the “Rocky Mountain High” state of Colorado.
The transcript:
Fareed Zakaria, Host: You’re not worried about the Democratic Party?
Bill Clinton: No. We’ve got a lot of good people in the Party. We’ve got a lot of good ideas.
But I think you’ve got to give it the Republicans. They have a much more reliable media base. And they just say no. They know what they want. They want power to cut taxes, eliminate regulations, take government down except for what they like. And they can fill the atmosphere with a lot of static.
The 42nd U.S. president went on to say it’s “a little tougher” for Democrats to explain what they’re trying to do, that it “requires a much more deft strategy.”
Telling the truth is always an option.
Keep in mind, a recent poll from liberal-leaning Pew Research Center showed 46 percent of Americans think the media could best be described as “liberal,” while just 26 percent said that the media was largely “conservative.”
