In an interview with NBC’s Lester Holt on Sunday, Taya Kyle, the widow of ex-Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, offered a surprising response when asked if she ever reached a point where she thought her husband was “invincible.”
Kyle responded, “I was always in fear for his life,” and then implies that there may be more to the story of his death.
Chris Kyle, known as the most lethal sniper in American military history, was tragically killed early this year at a shooting range while mentoring a fellow veteran, Eddie Ray Routh, who was suffering from PTSD.
She said of Routh, “if this was a simple case of the guy, the veteran, having PTSD, it would not have been an issue.” Without elaborating any further, she said “this was a case of Chris not having all the information about someone who had more to his story.”
Surprisingly, there has been little to no focus in the media on Routh’s background since the shooting.
In response to whether the availability of guns had anything to do with the death of her husband, Kyle said: “I think that he died because somebody wanted to kill him.”
