The thought of winning lunch with first lady Michelle Obama is probably enough to make you lose your lunch, but that’s the new fundraising effort launched by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
Though no contribution is necessary to enter the contest, a $3 (or more) donation automatically enters a person in the drawing for a chance to win lunch with the first lady and U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren in Boston with airfare and “luxury hotel accommodations” for two.
The excitement is unbearable.
Weasel Zippers obtained the email DSCC Chair Michael Bennett sent asking supporters to “imagine a lunch conversation between Michelle Obama and Elizabeth Warren. Now, imagine you’re a part of it.”
I’d really rather not.
The DSCC does a fairly decent job of scaring the hell out of supporters about the evil and dangerous Republicans. “Please contribute right away to fight Republicans who are trying to destroy President Obama’s agenda,” is the message you get if you enter the contest without going straight to the donation page. “While Republicans meet with billionaire financiers like the Koch brothers, Michelle Obama and Elizabeth Warren want to meet with you,” the email declares.
Forget politics. The thought of getting lectured about fruit and vegetables while one enjoys lunch just doesn’t sound fun.
