Dem congressman moves to abolish presidential term limits

Democratic Rep. Jose Serrano of New York reintroduced a bill in Congress Friday to repeal the 22nd Amendment, which would end term limits on the U.S. presidency.

H.J. Res. 15 proposes “an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President,” according to the Daily Caller.

The move prompts a sobering thought: Barack Obama, president for life.

Although, with Hillary Clinton in the bullpen and rumors that Michelle Obama may be considering a run for U.S. Senate in Illinois as a primer for her own White House run, America could realize a continuation of Obama’s far-left “progressive” agenda for some time to come.

To be fair, Serrano has proposed similar resolutions during both President Bill Clinton’s administration and President George W. Bush’s term in office. This is his second proposal since Obama took office.

Franklin D. Roosevelt was the only president to have served more than two terms. The 22nd amendment was passed by Congress in 1947, a few years after his death.

As the Daily Caller noted, President Woodrow Wilson also considered a third run before eventually dropping out.

Wilson is considered the father of the progressive movement, and Roosevelt also embraced the progressive mindset, having proposed a second bill of rights that would have guaranteed Americans employment, housing, medical care and education, among other things.

And Obama is certainly following in the footprints of these pioneers. Perish the thought!
