Biden regime accuses Arizona of trespassing after state deploys innovative border control project

The Biden administration escalated its war of words with Arizona Republican Governor Doug Ducey over an innovative solution close off an area of the porous southern border with shipping containers, accusing the state of trespassing on federal land.

Ducey defied the open-borders regime when he rejected demands to remove the containers which the state is using to fill gaps not covered by a wall, trying to stem the tide of illegal immigrants and deadly fentanyl that continues to flood into the country, an effort that began in August with the governor putting his foot down.

“Arizona has had enough,” Ducey said in a statement. “We can’t wait any longer. The Biden administration’s lack of urgency on border security is a dereliction of duty. For the last two years, Arizona has made every attempt to work with Washington to address the crisis on our border. Time and time again we’ve stepped in to clean up their mess. Arizonans can’t wait any longer for the federal government to deliver on their delayed promises.”

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation has claimed that around 100 of the 8,800-pound containers which are double-stacked, welded together, and topped with concertina wire, are located on federal land and ordered their removal which Ducey refused to do, filing suit in federal court, seeking a ruling that the containers can be kept in place.

“The unauthorized placement of those containers constitutes a violation of federal law and is a trespass against the United States,” wrote regional director for the Bureau of Reclamation’s Lower Colorado Basin Jacklynn Gould in a letter to the state. “That trespass is harming federal lands and resources and impeding Reclamation’s ability to perform its mission.”

Last week, the governor took to Twitter to tout the success of the Cochise County Border Barrier Mission

“In just 4 days, we’ve closed 1,280 feet of open border with 64 double-stacked containers. Where there’s a will, there’s a way!” Ducey wrote.

In another tweet from last week, Ducey included images of fentanyl pills that had been seized, “President Biden has created a crisis at the border. Action is needed! The Border Barrier Mission is helping us gain back operational control of the border,” he wrote.

“They say this is federal land, and it is, but it would be trespassing supposedly to put these containers on there,” said Douglas Nicholls, the Republican mayor of Yuma said in an interview with Fox News. “Well, my contention is that 300,000 people that have come through this year alone, they’ve been trespassing, and I don’t remember seeing a letter going out to anybody to try to stop any of that.”

Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich discussed the project with Fox News in August.

Twitter users reacted to Washington’s trespassing accusation.

“Our border communities are being used as the entryway to the United States, overwhelming law enforcement, hospitals, nonprofits and residents,” Gov. Ducey said in his statement. “It’s our responsibility to protect our citizens and law enforcement from this unprecedented crisis. With the resources and manpower in the right places, our Border Patrol and law enforcement will be better equipped to do their jobs well and prevent cartels from exploiting our communities. That’s exactly what our barrier mission will do.”
