A career criminal – a 41-year-old Brooklyn man – is accused of pushing a 32-year-old waiter onto the tracks of a New York subway. The criminal, who has been arrested more than two dozen times before, added one more to his record.
Police sources report that the assailant, Lamale McRae was arrested with the help of surveillance footage and facial-recognition technology by the Queens Warrants Squad on Monday near his Brooklyn home. He has been charged with attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment and harassment, according to the New York Post.
This is the kind of offense that is being soft-pedaled in the leftist meccas of New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. But with the midterms in two weeks, Governor Hochul and Mayor Adams are suddenly hawkish on crime, which means that we’ll have to wait until mid-November to write the article about how McRae was released. Per this morning’s arraignment, though, it was ordered that he be held without bail.
McRae had previously spent 20 years in prison for attempted murder and robbery in the Bronx (1997) – offenses that would no doubt be swept aside by today’s metropolitan, Soros-backed DAs and prosecutors. He was paroled in 2018.
Members of McRae’s family didn’t waste any time distancing themselves from him. Fed up, they have reportedly disowned him and banned him from their homes. Referring to the black sheep of the family, a note written on lined notebook paper was posted in the building where some of McRae’s family live.
“If you see a tall Brown skin guy sleepin in the hallway please call the police. He is trespassing. Don’t belong in the building,” read a sign posted on the stairwell of the Brooklyn building.
“He was off,” said Kay, one of McRae’s cousins who lives there. “Something is wrong with him. That’s why he can’t stay here. He’s been off for two years now” (since his mother died of dementia). She went on to say that Lamale is no stranger to unprovoked attacks, citing a time when he even attacked the mailman.
“The mailman was so scared that they changed the route,” she told the Post. “He pinned the mailman up. It was so bad we couldn’t get mail for a whole month.”
“He needs to be medicated,” she added. “He was in Woodhull [Medical and Mental Health Center in Brooklyn], but they let him go.”
Nevertheless, this incident seemed shocking to the cousin, who said it “wasn’t his character, period. He was a good person and went crazy out of nowhere.”
It doesn’t take a seasoned gumshoe to conclude that there are some inconsistencies of logic there.
One neighbor in the building said, “It’s not like there wasn’t things leading up to this. He had some incidents attacking cars out front. He was mad at the cars or whatever.”
This year there have been 22 incidents like this in New York subways. There were two just in the past week. On Sunday, a 62-year-old man was punched and pushed onto the tracks of a Bronx station. Police working that case said the incident might have been part of a “knockout game” — a social media challenge where people are urged to punch strangers.
Another victim of such an attack was a 22-year-old woman, whose assailant is still at large.
ABC News did an exclusive story on the MTA’s desire to “make it easier to ban criminals from the transit system”:
There would be riots all across the fruited plain if any of these incidents were perpetrated by white assailants against black passengers. None of these crimes were of that variety, so the black mayor of the city is free to talk about the “perception” of unsafe subways.
Incidentally, doesn’t it seem at least somewhat likely that Lamale McRae thinks he is doing the Lord’s work, given the way MSNBC and other news outlets talk about white people these days?
