Top GOP senator wants answers over claim hundreds have resigned from FBI to duck misconduct probes

The FBI’s reputation has been severely tarnished as a result of the politicization of the nation’s premier law enforcement agency under the Biden regime, and things aren’t getting much better after a whistleblower came forward with explosive allegations that have a top Republican senator demanding answers from FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland.

Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa, the ranking member on the Senate Judiciary Committee called on Wray to explain the claims of the whistleblower who came forward to his office that a whopping 665 FBI personnel resigned or retired in order to duck facing accountability in sexual misconduct investigations over nearly two decades, a major scandal if true.

According to Fox News, “The whistleblower told the office of Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley, the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, that the Justice Department launched the review of the FBI’s disciplinary database in 2020 following an Associated Press investigation into sexual misconduct allegations involving at least six senior FBI officials.”

“The follow-up review found 665 FBI employees, including 45 senior-level officials, resigned or retired between 2004 and 2020 following a misconduct probe but before a final disciplinary letter could be issued, according to a letter this week from Grassley to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland,” the outlet reported.

“It was not clear how many of those cases involved sexual misconduct. Grassley’s office, which declined to make the whistleblower or underlying documents available to protect the person’s identify, (sic) said that was the kind of information it was still seeking but estimated the number could be in the ‘hundreds,’ according to Fox News.

“It’s been alleged to my office that the data involved an element of sexual misconduct, which comports with the purpose of the … review that was done because of the Associated Press article,” Grassley wrote in his letter. “The committee welcomes any clarity the Justice Department is able to provide.”

In his 7-page letter to Wray and Garland, Grassley references the Associated Press investigation as well as Justice Department documents.

“Simply put, these two documents show a systemic failure within the Justice Department and FBI to protect female employees from sexual harassment and sexual misconduct in the workplace and a failure to sufficiently punish employees for that same misconduct. FBI employees should not have to suffer under daily abuse and misconduct by their colleagues and supervisors,” he wrote.

“Congress has an obligation to perform an objective and independent review of the Justice Department’s and FBI’s failures and determine the accuracy of the data contained in the documents so that the American people know and understand what, if any, changes have been made to solve these significant problems. Accordingly, please answer the following no later than October 14, 2022,” he wrote, followed by an extensive list of materials that he is asking to be provided by the feds.

Grassley took to Twitter on Thursday to dial up the pressure.

“Whistleblower disclosures to my office show systemic failure within FBI to protect women employees from disgraceful sexual misconduct; senior level employees get away with it, retire, & get bonuses; when is FBI Dir Wray going to clean house??” the senior lawmaker asked of the current leadership at the Bureau which has been under heavy criticism, especially for its war on Trump supporters and other conservatives, including pro-life activists who are being treated like terrorists under Wray and Garland’s lamentable tenures.
