Tapper gets taste of own medicine, sets record straight since ‘DCCC cannot be counted on to do so’

CNN host Jake Tapper eviscerated the House Democratic campaign finance arm on Tuesday for taking his words out of context, conveniently leaving out the fact that they helped a GOP candidate in Michigan win because they thought he would be easier to beat.

Democrats have been ripped apart for meddling in a number of Republican primaries this year. They have dumped millions of dollars into Trump-supporting GOP candidates in an effort to unseat moderate Republicans, such as Rep. Peter Meijer (R-MI). They insanely believe that candidates who support former President Trump will be easier to defeat.

Meijer joined ten other House Republicans in voting to impeach Trump after the Jan. 6 riot. Instead of being the darling of the left, they successfully sought to unseat him by running $435,000 in TV ads to boost his opponent, John Gibbs, according to The Washington Post. Gibbs won the tight race, thanks to the left, and now Democrats are going after him with everything they’ve got.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is working hard to get Hillary Scholten elected to take Meijer’s seat. They used an edited portion of a segment from CNN’s “The Lead” to help accomplish that and Tapper took offense to it.

“The @GOPLeader once said he’s backing @votejohngibbs ‘100%’ and would ‘respect every position that he takes.’ How about now, Kevin?” the DCCC tweeted playing the edited clip of Tapper’s comments.

Tapper reported last Wednesday, “Get this, a congressional candidate supported by Donald Trump, by the way, whose past writings and associations indicate that he is against women voting. We’re talking about John Gibbs. You might remember him because with some financial support from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, with ads that thought he would be an easier candidate to beat.”

The DCCC left out the part in an ad where they helped nominate Gibbs.

Tapper called them out for it on Tuesday and accused the DCCC of attempting to “hide” what they had done by getting Trump candidates elected.

“We should note that last Wednesday we did a segment here on the lead about John Gibbs and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee took part of our segment and they’ve been running an edited version on Twitter. They posted the part where I noted Gibbs’ previous opposition to women voting, but somehow they cut out the part where I noted the DCCC has contributed to the Gibbs campaign by funding almost half a million dollars worth of ads promoting him,” Tapper noted.

“First, I’m going to play what aired here on ‘The Lead’, and then we’re going to play how the DCCC edited out my words to hide the role that they played in boosting him,” he stated and then proceeded to play the segments.

Tapper concluded, “We just wanted to set the record straight since apparently the DCCC cannot be counted on to do so.”
