Trump admits he’d asked Hannity to go ‘easier’ on Biden after being ‘too tough’, Fox host said he was ‘telling the truth’

Sean Hannity was being too tough on Joe Biden, at least that’s the opinion of former President Donald J. Trump who revealed that he asked the Fox News host to go easier on his successor while suggesting that there are more important things than politics.

The surprising revelation came at the conclusion of a wide-ranging interview that aired on Thursday night’s edition of “Hannity” where the ex-POTUS discussed a number of topics including the raid on Mar-a-Lago, the state of the economy, foreign policy, immigration, and the upcoming midterms.

“You gave us a lot of time, thank you,” Hannity said as the two were wrapping up their talk.

“You think Biden would give you this much time?” Trump asked. “Do you think he’d be answering these questions?”

“You want to know my honest answer?” Hannity replied. “I don’t even think he knows today’s Wednesday is my honest answer.”

“I hope he does. For the sake of this country, I hope he does,” the former president said.

“That’s very gracious,” said Hannity. “I should tell a story about one time, you requested that I go easier on him. You did say that to me, you thought I was being a little too flippant.”

“I think that it was too tough,” recalled Trump. “I thought that you were very tough, and I thought it was…”

“I was telling the truth,” Hannity defended himself.

“I will say this, forget politics and the Republican and the Democrat stuff and the radical left and everything else, I want somebody that’s a great leader. I want somebody that can stand toe-to-toe with President Xi of China..,” Trump said, as he expounded on his relationship with the leader of the Chinese communist regime and the need for strong leadership to deal with both America’s adversaries and allies.

“These are very strong, smart people, and beyond Republican or Democrat, I want to see somebody that’s great,” he said.

“You want Joe Biden to succeed?” Hannity asked.

“I would rather have him succeed incredibly, even if it meant a much tougher, and maybe even a loss,” Trump answered. “I want to see what’s good for the country,” saying that if he had to choose between the current mess that the country is in and seeing his opponent be successful, he puts America first.

“So you’d be willing to go through all the hell that we’ve talked about today and all that you’ve been through all these six years because you put your country first, is this a calling for you?” Hannity asked.

“I put the country first yeah,” replied Trump, noting that he had a great life before he got into politics.

“You know it’s very funny, I was heading into a big event at the convention center..,” he reminisced about 2016. “And half the people were cheering wildly, and half the people were booing. I had just announced that I was running, my wife looked at me, Melania, she said you ‘know darling, nobody’s ever booed, I’ve never heard anybody booing you before.'”

“I said, welcome to the world of politics right?” Trump said.
