NY Times lib-splains why you should suffer without the luxury of air conditioning

The New York Times has long railed against the so-called luxury of air conditioning and they are once again lib-splaining to Americans how evil it is because of climate change, asserting Americans should suck it up and learn to live without it.

The leftist propaganda outlet is once again crying doom and gloom over raging heat waves that most sane human beings recognize as “summer.”

Alluding to the privileged having air-conditioning, the New York Times contends that it is simply a luxury that many people can’t afford, all evidence to the contrary. Before President Biden and the leftists got a hold of cheap energy sources, such as oil, natural gas, and coal, most Americans were able to afford air conditioning. Now that energy prices are skyrocketing due to liberal policies, not so much.

The media outlet asserts that until “recent heat waves, many people living in traditionally temperate climates, like Britain and the Pacific Northwest, have not considered their regions hot enough to need it.”

Leftists don’t want Americans to have air conditioning but they also don’t want them to drop dead due to heat-related illnesses. It would look bad.

“According to the 2018 National Climate Assessment, the number of hot days is increasing, and the frequency of heat waves in the United States has jumped from an average of two per year in the 1960s to six per year by the 2010s. That report explains that the season for heat waves is now 45 days longer than it was six decades ago,” the New York Times warns while telling you there are many ways to beat the heat while avoiding the evils of air conditioning.

“If possible, shade or cover windows that are exposed to direct sunlight, and use shutters if you have them. While blinds or curtains are cheaper options that are easier to install, they are also less effective at keeping the heat out. Dark curtains and blinds made of metal can also make a room hotter,” they advise.

Anyone who has ever bought shutters can tell you their price rivals that of air conditioning.

The outlet goes on to recommend planting deciduous trees for shade and hanging external plants over windows to cut the temperature. No mention is made of the cost of watering and caring for the plants or the fact that, once again, it pretty much doesn’t work.

They give brilliant advice to open your windows to let air flow through the home if it is cooler outside than inside. Of note here is that if this is the case you typically would not have your air conditioning running in the first place. The liberals at the New York Times do go on to admonish us to keep doors and windows closed when it’s hot outside. Evidently so you can bake properly without air conditioning.

The next piece of advice is to use fans to circulate the air. Except at that point you are pretty much just pushing around hot air and the relief is pretty minimal unless you get right up on the fan.

Then comes the dig at your refrigerators and freezers, because if they aren’t “energy efficient” and working properly they could make the room warmer. You are also told to avoid cooking and to “prepare light meals and limit use of the stove and oven.” No cooking evil meat and you really should go vegetarian according to leftists.

They tell you not to operate major appliances during the day and to even regressively dry your clothes outdoors.

If it’s too hot in your bedroom at night, the leftists at the New York Times suggest you move to a cooler part of your home. That’s not inconvenient at all, not to mention utterly unworkable in many cases.

Hope you like cold showers because they are recommending you use cooler water to bathe in.

If you have incandescent light bulbs, shame on you. They are pounding home once again that you should use energy-efficient light bulbs to cool down and reduce costs which is pretty much not the case.

The New York Times has been railing on this for years. In 2018, they published a piece called, “The Unchilled Life: Breezing Through the Recession Without Air-Conditioning.”

It appears to be a topic they trot out periodically to push climate change politics on the masses.
