Trump takes revenge on Chris Christie with a public fat-joke that includes visuals

Former President Donald Trump has never been known to mince words and his latest shot against former Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) forced social media into defense of the middling Republican as the bigger story was overlooked.

The midterm elections are weeks away and sides are being chosen on the right between conservatives decrying the raid on Trump’s home at Mar-a-Lago and RINOs who are trying to make nice with the media to better market themselves for future appearances and job opportunities. Christie appeared to position himself in the latter category on Sunday, leading many to suspect that Trump lashed out by “fat-shaming” in response Friday.

Sharing an image of a man said to be Christie at a condiment and toppings station, the president posted to Truth Social, “Chris Christie at a Roy Rogers at 11 PM in the evening trying to console himself.”

Surprising nobody, the left ignored any message that Trump may have been trying to send with the image and used it as an opportunity to both defend Christie and take their own “fat-shaming” jibes at the former president.

Some went on to suggest that the reason Trump was taking aim at Christie was related to the governor’s Sunday appearance on ABC’s “This Week” where he argued the Justice Department “had no choice” in his view but to raid Mar-a-Lago and seize documents.

In the same interview, he contended, “There’s only one executive who can assert the [executive] privilege, and that’s the one who is the current executive, Joe Biden. A previous executive can’t assert executive privilege. They’re not the executive any longer.”

Christie followed that interview with a tweet Monday where he wrote, “Having top secret documents unsecured in Palm Beach threatens national security. That is why the law prevents Presidents from taking these documents with them when they leave office and why the DOJ had to take them back when Trump refused to return them.”

Though Trump did not elaborate on what it was specifically that he was suggesting Christie was “consoling himself” over, the president’s follow-up on Truth Social may be indicative of the broader shot that was being taken at corporate media for continuing to cycle RINOs through their broadcasts to perpetuate the narrative of wrongdoing in yet another fishing expedition.

Shortly after the Roy Rogers image, Trump shared the results of a Premise Poll that not only showed the strong favorability of the former president among Republicans but made no mention of presidential hopeful Christie and showed Trump winning in a three-way contest against President Joe Biden and outgoing Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.).

The implication is that no matter how the RINOs may prostrate themselves to the whims of the left, they will never be accepted by them or the Republican base as they only succeed in politically alienating themselves. Supporting that were the findings of Premise that showed if Cheney were taken out of the presidential race more than three-quarters of those supporting her would change their vote to Biden in 2024.
