They ain’t seen nothing, yet! Border sheriffs lay into liberal mayors freaking out over migrant busses

Listen to any card-carrying Democratic politician long enough and you’ll find “flagrant hypocrisy” to be an unofficial plank of the party platform. Such has been the case as border state Govs. Greg Abbott (R-Texas) and Doug Ducey (R-Ariz.) have forced progressive cities to come face-to-face with a sample of the crisis they’ve dealt with daily.

But as the likes of Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) and Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser bemoan the busing of illegal immigrants to their cities, sheriffs on the frontline say, “They have seen nothing.”

Since Abbott began the voluntary transport of illegals in April from the U.S.-Mexico border toward the nation’s capital, New York and more recently the Windy City, roughly 10,000 of the more than two million Border Patrol has encountered so far in 2022 have made the journey. Bowser has declared a public emergency over the paltry number bused to her “sanctuary city” as locals lamented that D.C. has been turned into a border town.

Goliad County, Texas Sheriff Roy Boyd was quick to splash cold water on that assertion as he told Fox News Digital, “They have seen nothing. They are not a border town. They don’t know what a border town is.”

“I think it’s all a bunch of political grandstanding, trying to get themselves some attention and squeeze a little bit of money out of the federal government or somewhere else that they can use for whatever they think it’s needed for,” he argued. “If they want to see what it looks like. They can come down here for us. It’s being shoved on us by the federal government and their policies and their lack of enforcement.”

As previously reported, D.C. Council Member Brianne Nadeau tried to shift the blame for the “crisis” they are now experiencing that has long been ignored by progressives in favor of open borders on Abbott and Ducey. “So it’s been said, but it’s worth reiterating that the governors of Texas and Arizona have created this crisis and the federal government has not stepped up to assist the District of Columbia…We’ve learned from border towns like El Paso and Brownsville. In many ways the governors of Texas and Arizona have turned us into a border town.”

In response to these complaints, Jonathan Thompson, executive director and CEO of the National Sheriff’s Association told the outlet, “‘Welcome to our world’ is what they say. Welcome to the everyday problems we are facing, and you have been ignoring and that you continue to want to blame someone else for.”

Executive Director of the Southwestern Border Sheriff’s Coalition retired Texas Sheriff Clint McDonald contributed to the discussion by adding, “The sheriffs on the border right now are living this every day. And they’ve been criticized for asking to help with what they’re going through. And now that major cities are starting to feel this pressure, it seems to be a whole different scenario for them than it is for the people who live it every day.”

“So we don’t have sympathy for these people,” McDonald declared.

Meanwhile, the mayors impacted by the busing have taken steps to pass the buck on to others.

“We’re putting in place a framework that would allow us to have a coordinated response with our partners,” Bowser stated. “This will include a program to meet all buses, and given that most people will move on, our primary focus is to make sure we have a humane, efficient, welcome process that will allow people to move on to their final destination.”

Likewise, Lightfoot was slammed for placing the burden of the dozens of illegals that had only just been sent to Chicago on a Republican suburb, leading Mayor Gary Grasso of Burr Ridge to call her out. “We’re more than happy for people to find freedom, it is hypocrisy by the mayor of Chicago to complain about the governor of Texas–I do agree with what he’s doing–the city of Chicago says it’s going to be a sanctuary city which I oppose–but there must be vacant hotel rooms in Chicago. This is hundreds of people in a city of millions. Why are they sending them out to the Republican suburbs? You have to wonder.”

“They’re upset about what is going on,” McDonald went on about the progressive mayors. “And this is what is happening for our people every day. So the whole situation has got the border region upset and we’re trying to survive day to day–then they receive a few of these people in their communities and they’re screaming for help when our border sheriffs cannot get any help.”

As Thompson set forth, Border Patrol is overwhelmed, not just from the thousands of daily encounters, but from dealing with lives lost by those making the attempt to enter the United States illegally.

“They’re overwhelmed trying to bring dead bodies and the remains of illegal aliens that are found in the desert. They’re overwhelmed in their communities with human services shortfalls. They’re overwhelmed with crime response. And they’re overwhelmed with just the sheer magnitude of things that need to happen to help care for people,” Thompson said.

“It was a brilliant move on the part of Governor Abbott in order to ensure that the word began to spread through channels that previously had ignored the problem,” Boyd told Fox News Digital while Thompson suggested the mayors, “Talk to the president…That’s who owns the policy, that’s whose policy it is and that’s what’s directing the surge.”

McDonald reminded that the problem has never been an issue merely for those at the border, but one that affects all Americans. “The people on the border realize that this is not a red issue, and it’s not a blue issue. It’s a red, white and blue issue. And it’s time America takes care of Americans. And right now, we’re just not doing that.”
