Critics pan Meghan Markle for tossing the crown but not the royal title with self-promoting, ‘nonsensical’ speech

In the category of “Will they ever just go away?” Meghan Markle and her doormat of a husband Prince Harry are the tops.

In a speech delivered to the One Young World summit in Manchester on Sunday, the 41-year-old Duchess of Sussex couldn’t resist making her address a glowing tribute to herself, and it did not go unnoticed. It was the first time she has spoken publicly in Britain since “Megxit,” and the quasi-royal couple reportedly had to run “a gauntlet of boos” as they arrived, the Daily Mail reported.

But as much as the Daily Mail wishes it, it doesn’t appear that any videos exist in support of that assertion. Instead, the couple appears to have arrived amid mostly cheers and applause.

Still, Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine said Markle’s speech, which was touted as a speech on gender equality was “nonsensical.” And according to people who track such things, Markle referred to herself 54 times during the seven-minute speech.

“I can’t visualise [sic] or comprehend how the 2,000 young people understood a word of what she was talking about,” Seward said.

“It made no sense. It was all about her and related everything to herself. I don’t think she knew what she was talking about. It was just ‘me, me, me’ and praising herself.”

Describing herself as “the girl from ‘Suits,'” Markle related to the crowd, “I was so overwhelmed by this experience, I think, I think I even saved my little paper place-marker with my name on it,” she said, adding it was “Just proof: proof that I was there, proof that I belonged, because the truth was, I wasn’t sure that I belonged.”

Royal author Phil Dampier accused Markle of “wanting to sound sincere.” but said despite her efforts, “there was a severe lack of content in what she was saying.”

“She was using her acting skills when she made the comment about being back in the UK,” he said, adding, “She clearly launched a PR offensive having received hostility from the British press.”

“If she met most members of the public in the UK she wouldn’t get good reception, but on stage with an audience that tends to be on her side – or is inclined to support her – she could get away saying very little and being applauded for it.”

Robert Jobson, author of “William at 40: The Making of a Modern Monarch,” told the Mail, “There is no doubt that Meghan is a first class orator. She speaks with passion and engages her audience. I’m sure she is thrilled to have her voice back!” he exclaimed with obvious sarcasm.

“I’m sure too that after all the attacks she has made against the Queen and the British royal family Her Majesty leads, that her comment saying that it is good to be back in the UK should be taken with a pinch of salt.”

Jobson asserted that Markle has a “political agenda long term” and she is trying to inject herself into a political role “maybe in Congress or the Senate.”

“But to do that I think she must ditch the royal ‘duchess’ title that is linked to a system and a family she appears to despise,” he added. “If she did that it might placate some people in the UK who feel both Harry and Meghan should be stripped of their royal title.”

“But as they use their links with royalty to promote themselves I doubt she and her princely born husband will ever do that.”

Dampier described Prince Harry as looking “ill at ease and embarrassed’ when Meghan referred to him during her speech, and he observed the audience would applaud Markle’s “fairly dull’ remarks about being a wife and mother, though the audience was filled mostly with young people.

“She was clearly among friends and the young audience was clearly on her side. They were applauding fairly dull remarks that she was a wife and mother,” he said, adding, “But in terms of what she was actually saying, I haven’t a clue.”

If you’re a glutton for punishment, watch the speech and judge for yourself.
