ISIS ‘Beatle’ convicted of kidnapping, torturing and murdering US hostages learns his fate

ISIS butcher El Shafee Elsheikh from the group dubbed “The Beatles,” due to their British accents, has been sentenced to eight concurrent life sentences in prison for kidnapping, torturing, and murdering American hostages.

Elsheikh, 34, was sentenced at the federal courthouse in Alexandria, Virginia for crimes against at least eight American, British, and Japanese citizens. His victims included American journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff. He has also been found guilty of the murders of aid workers Peter Kassig and Kayla Mueller.

He was found guilty of eight charges, including hostage-taking resulting in death, conspiracy to murder US citizens outside of the United States, and conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, following a federal trial in April.

The ISIS terrorist was stonily silent following his sentence. Fox News is confirming that he is seeking an appeal and asserted that his defense attorneys did not competently represent him during his trial.

All of the American hostages, except for Mueller, were executed in videotaped beheadings that were posted online. Mueller was forced into slavery and raped multiple times by Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi before she was eventually killed.

Elsheikh was a high-ranking ISIS fighter serving alongside Alexanda Amon Kotey, who was also given a life sentence this year. They were captured together in January 2018 as they tried to flee Syria for Turkey.

A statement from the Department of Justice that was released in April asserts that the former British citizen oversaw ISIS’ jail and detention facilities where the hostages were held and forced to endure “a prolonged pattern of physical and psychological violence.”

He is said to have overseen the imprisonment of 26 hostages in Syria and “personally participated in the detention of and hostage negotiations for British, French, Italian, Danish, German, Spanish, Swedish, Belgian, Swiss, and New Zealand nationals.”

Judge Thomas Selby Ellis handed down the verdict on Friday as family members of the victims looked on.

“The behavior of this defendant and his co-defendant can only be described as horrific barbaric, brutal, and callous,” Judge Ellis commented.

“This is a significant episode in the history of our country and our justice system,” he added.

Diane Foley, the mother of James Foley, spoke to Elsheikh directly in court as she read her impact statement ahead of the sentencing.

“Today is the eighth anniversary of Jim’s gruesome beheading. Knowing Jim, my suffering and that of our entire family would have given him his deepest pain,” she stated according to The Independent. “However, Jim would also want you both to know that your hate-filled crimes did not win. James Wright Foley lives on.”

“This trial has revealed the horrific human rights crimes you committed while part of ISIS,” she continued. “Your hatred overtook your humanity. You have been held accountable for your depravity (and) … you will spend the rest of your life in prison, but you too have lost. You have lost your citizenship, your country … your family,” the bereaved mother told her son’s murderer.
