Despite their burning hatred of former President Donald J. Trump, there is one man who strikes total fear into the hearts of Democrats and in an ironic twist, the FBI storming of Mar-a-Lago may actually benefit Joe Biden by helping him dodge a potential 2024 matchup with Ron DeSantis, at least according to Piers Morgan.
The Florida governor is a rising star in the Republican Party, largely due to his ability to manage the COVID pandemic without resorting to the authoritarian measures favored by the White House and other Democrats, giving him an advantage in a matchup with Biden. But the post-raid popularity bounce that Trump is experiencing could solidify his grip on the nomination once he declares.
Morgan offered up his political insight during an appearance on the latest edition of HBO’s “Real Time With Bill Maher” that aired on the day that the search warrant for the unprecedented action against the top opposition leader was made public.
“In the end, it comes down to what is in these boxes… if it turns out to be the real deal, if it turns out that Donald Trump has violated the Espionage Act, that is a serious crime and he should be held to account,” Morgan said. “If it doesn’t turn out to be there, that there are legitimate questions, I think, from the Trump supporters about the different standards applied to Donald Trump that hasn’t been applied to Hillary Clinton, to James Comey, to Hunter Biden and the others.”

Maher, a die-hard Trump hater expressed frustration that the raid appears to have galvanized support for the ex-POTUS as Republicans rallied around him following the latest weaponizing of federal law enforcement for political reasons, a bridge too far for many.
“Trump, he did sell his soul to the devil because he is the luckiest man in the world,” Maher said. “His fortune was finally falling, the ‘big lie’ was finally losing momentum, DeSantis was beating him in the polls. You know who hates this more than anybody? DeSantis.”
“I had this in the bag and now I got to run against President martyr,” he complained. “And this is saving Trump, politically, because now of course, all the Republicans, what do they do?”

Morgan chimed in, “It may be what of course Joe Biden would secretly like, he might want to face off against Trump again,”
“If you’re Joe Biden, who would you rather face?” Morgan asked. “Donald Trump who has all the baggage, who has the Jan. 6 investigation raging a number of legal actions, all this stuff now where you know last time you got the record number of votes of any presidential candidate ever – would you rather face him again, or would you rather face a much younger, more dynamic DeSantis who doesn’t have the baggage?”
“So, in a way, you could see that although it looks in the short term like this might play out advantageously for Trump politically, if he doesn’t get nailed by what’s going on here, actually it could work in Joe Biden’s favor in 2024,” he said as Maher’s liberal audience clapped like trained seals.
Over the weekend, Trump took to Truth Social to tout his surging popularity after the Biden regime dialed up what some have likened to a “Gestapo-style” raid on his home.
“Record Polls and Donor Support. America is being destroyed!” Trump wrote.

The link that Trump posted was in reference to a survey by Morning Consult/Politico taken after Mar-a-Lago was overrun by the feds, showing that 58 percent said that they would vote for him in the GOP primary, up 4 points from July proving that once again, the former president has confounded the media and others who have been prematurely dancing on his political grave.
