Right-wing prankster Alex Stein heckled “loser” and “liar” Vice News reporter Tess Owen at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Dallas on Saturday in a viral video clip that is nearing one million views.
Stein, who rose to social media prominence for trolling buttoned-up politicians at city council meetings, and for engaging in other forms of public performance art, mocked the journalist from the far-left outlet in a form of reverse mask-shaming and shared it on his Twitter feed.
Stein’s implication seemed to be that Vice News was covering the event merely to disparage CPAC attendees as part of an ongoing narrative and for its liberal audience, so turnabout was fair play.
Owen’s Twitter bio indicates that her beat is “extremism & the dissident right.” Her tweets are now protected.
Filming himself as he walked with her and compared event credentials, Stein began by ridiculing Owen for being the only person in the exhibit area who was wearing a mask.
“So this is the Vice reporter — you could tell, the only one in a mask here…This is Vice, guys…she’s trying to troll this event. She thinks all of you guys are losers…she posts the most out-of-context stuff….Vice is the worst media company there is. They’re all liars.”
When Stein asked for her thoughts on “her crappy media company,” Owen replied that she was just doing her job. Stein then described her as a “loser” and “this is what a loser looks like.”

In response to Stein’s question about how many COVID-19 jabs she had received, Owen said it was none of Stein’s business.
“So why do you want to mandate them if it’s none of my business?,” Stein fired back. “It’s none of my business, but she’s pro-vaccine mandates,” he told onlookers.
When Owen informed Stein that she was getting married in two weeks, Stein quipped, “That’s great. I wonder how many vaccines he has…is he vaccinated too?”
He then peppered her with more questions that she didn’t seem to answer.
Stein has also had satirical run-ins with U.S. Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Dan Crenshaw (R-Tex.).

He wasn’t finished with Owen. “Vice is a liar; she’s a liar. And when you call her out, she walks away. She’s scared. She’s the only one in a mask here. She probably has the coronavirus and the viral shedding. You guys see this is a Vice journalist; it’s a lying media company,” he asserted.
